A diverse selection of products from Mojiko and its nearby vicinity.
Moji Port was once a thriving international port in Japan from the Meiji era to the early
Showa era. During that time,
street vendors sold bananas brought in from Taiwan at a discount, shouting, “Come and get
it, come and get it!” In a
city that was filled with exotic goods brought from abroad or exported from Japan, souvenirs
remain a popular way to
showcase the former metropolis’ history. At Minato House, you will find a wide variety of
souvenirs that capture the
essence of Mojiko. These include banana snacks, locally brewed sake – including those from
the oldest beer factory in
Kyushu, and the famous baked curry with rice. You can also find many specialities from
neighbouring areas, such as
Kokura’s renowned confections and Shimonoseki’s famous seafood, including pufferfish.
